Purpose

The mandate of the Global Citizenship Foundation is to realize United Nations' Sustainable Goal 4.7: Global Citizenship Education with a vision to transform education for human flourishing.

The Center for Social Impact, under the auspices of the Global Citizenship Foundation, aims to identify and build a global network of education stakeholders committed to transforming education for human flourishing. In our effort to execute our mandate, we produce resources that are helpful to educators, learners, young people, educational leaders, experts, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, grant organizations, and other education stakeholders to realize Sustainable Development Goal 4.7.

Background

Initially, we undertook an analysis of 500+ organizations globally that are engaged in realizing United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 and Target 4.7

Those included in the list are organizations and initiatives that were identified in our preliminary research to have been fostering and advancing the following transformative education approaches:

Global Citizenship Education (GCED)
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
Hybrid-Learning
Peace Education
Other Transformative Education Initiatives

What is the criteria for the verified badge?

Our researchers schedule 30-60 minute video interviews with the organizations, in addition to relevant information shared through a detailed survey.

Verified Organizations/Initiatives have appeared to have demonstrated some evidence of impact and scale, and whose programs are:

Aligned to the realization of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 and Target 4.7
Aligned to the Global Citizenship Foundation’s mission of transforming education for human flourishing
Possess a highly developed program model
Grounded in the local or national or global contexts
With the potential to impact-at-scale

Based on the completion of the requirements, a verified badge is included in the organization/initiative’s profile on the Impact 500 website.
